Arrowman Of The Month:
This Month’s Arrowman of the Month is....
Nicholas Bell from Cowikee!
Nicholas is a 13 year old star scout. He is a new and hard working member of the OA. He recently went through the ordeal this year and is going to go through Brotherhood in September. He loves to hang out with others, patch trade, and do community service. He is very active within his lodge and has been to every event his lodge has had and attended Conclave. He plans to go to the 2020 NOAC at Michigan State next summer.
Camp Of The Month:
This months camp of the month is Camp Seminole!! Camp Seminole was opened in 1986 and is home to the Pushmataha Area Council and Watonala Lodge. Camp Seminole is used for more than just Cub Scouts and Boy scouts, it is used for community purposes too! People from the Army ROTC and personnel of the Columbus Air Force Base go there too. Seminole also holds important and valuable resources to education, recreation, and team building which are used by Mississippi state organizations. Every year Seminole houses teams that come to build habitat for humanity houses in Oktibbeha County, and served as a spot to stay after Katrina devastation. Camp Seminole isn’t used just for scouts but for other activities and functions outside of scouts.
This month in Order of the Arrow history:
On July 16, 1915 Dr. E Urner Goodman and Carroll A. Edson of the Philadelphia council founded our great Order at Treasure Island! Therefore making the Order of the Arrow now retaining it's 104 year!
Patch Of The Month:
A new article the section will be posting this year is the Patch of the Month.
This months patch of the month is..... the Yustaga X1!
The Yustaga X1 (circa 1953) was the third patch issued by the lodge. It is commonly referred to as the diamond or the blue diamond. While it was most commonly sewn onto the right uniform pocket, there are examples of it being sewn onto neckerchiefs which were likely home-made issues.
